Sex Clark Five-Sarajevo
I don’t know much about these guys. Formed in Alabama in the 80’s this is from their first full length album Strum & Drum (Records to Russia, 1987). An album of really great short pop songs that would have fit in nicely a few years later with the Elephant 6 collective (Neutral Milk Hotel, Olivia Tremor Control, Minders, Elf Power, etc). I don’t know why these guys guys aren’t more well known, this record is amazing. Sarajevo tells the story of the beginning of WWI in under two minutes and it’s catchy as hell.

Sex Clark Five’s sound got widely cloned in the 90s. WFMU is playing the new SC5 album which is brilliant and addictive.
